The Avengers
Comic book adaptations are everywhere and Marvel's The Avengers continues the movie tradition in 2012 with a new experiment. They've been busy building up the Marvel pantheon of characters with individual adventures for Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor and Captain America.
They will all come together, with ring-master Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson), in The Avengers, the superhero megamix, released in the UK on 27th April 2012.
We will have to wait and see if director Joss Whedon can deliver an ensemble film that satisfies both fanboy and girls, and hits the mainstream to get box-office tills a ringing.
In the build up to next April, I thought it would be fun to put together my reviews here and see how the characters have fared, movie-wise, in the build up to their big get together.
My review of Iron Man (for a regional newspaper) 2008 VERDICT: an entertaining hit
My review of Iron Man 2 (local news again) VERDICT: more entertainment, but samey
My review of The Incredible Hulk VERDICT: a boring abomination
My take on Captain America VERDICT: Square-jawed fun with good villainry
