Good Lord! "Assemble" is the least sexy title in the history of everything. You assemble ikea furniture - oh hang on. Given the lack of imagination currently on display of late that seems kinda appropraite.

Hi Dan, yes I really agree about films about film history; certainly seems to have swept Hugo on. I just love Alexander Payne's work as well, anything that allows him to get projects made more easily can only be a good thing. Gary is overdue isn't he, that's a tough call there....

I think the Academy likes films about films - so that puts The Artist and Hugo in with a perfect chance of sweeping the awards. But I'd love to see Alexander Payne get the main prizes because he's a brilliant storyteller while Gary Oldman, who has deserved an Oscar countless times, should get Best Actor simply because he's overdue.

This is definitely going to be a fun experience......

This is definitely going to be a fun experience...for every Alien fan at least. I just hope it lives up to my huge expectations - chances are pretty low as they are exceedingly high. But I have faith in Ridley Scott - the perfectionist - to return to the genre he's so adept at and create something truly memorable.

Thank you for your comment. The philosophical aspect of the movie was not lost on me. Indeed Mr Cameron expanded on his views when a few journalists (myself included) approached him after the press conference in December. For my money the message could go down a bit easier if delivered in a less obvious, blunderbuss style.

I found this movie very inspirational given that I am an artist and have dealt with depression and all that. After watching this, my freak brain just lit up with ideas of things to sketch. Though the movie was a bit slow I liked how the fantasy "Meanwhile City" was just the view of London from a man troubled in the head. Beautifully done.

For what it was it was good, i quite liked the film althougth a tad slow paced. I think the film worked well not a massive achievement but not a waste of money either.
